![]() |
The car crime reported in our previous circular continues. As always, remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. If we are all watching for the offenders, they WILL be caught. This is a round-up of recent reports: In mid-February, wheels were stolen from a Porsche that was parked on Canonbie Road . We have no further details. At the end of February, a car window was smashed on Westwood Park . The resident reports that this was the second time in three weeks. Three trays of eggs were stolen, and these were used to pelt cars with. A van was also broken into but nothing was stolen. The Police were called. At the end of February, number plates were stolen from a car on Horniman Drive . The Police were informed, who said that this was common, and that the plates would probably be used for avoiding the congestion charge. If this happens to you, you must call the Police to get a crime number, in case the congestion people come chasing you. At the end of March, in the small hours of Friday morning, a car on Tewkesbury Avenue had its rear window smashed. Nothing was taken and the Police were informed. At the end of March, wing mirrors were smashed on a car in Ringmore Rise . The next morning, the car was broken into and damage was caused. Burglaries and other incidents In mid-February, a vigilant neighbour foiled an attempted burglary in Westwood Park . The resident was on holiday at the time, and the Police were called. The burglar did not gain access. In mid-February, a young man was spotted wandering suspiciously round a house in Tewkesbury Avenue . The neighbour initially thought it was a workman -the house in currently undergoing building works - but decided to follow him just to be sure. A gang of youths then arrived, so the resident phoned then Police. He was a well-built youth, wearing a grey bubble jacket with blue sleeves and a baseball hat covered with a hood. At the time, the resident did not know if anything had been stolen, or if any damage had been caused At the end of February, a resident confronted some youths outside his house for being noisy and disruptive. The youths pelted him with rocks, and unfortunately one of the rocks hit him. The Police were called and came within minutes, but unfortunately could not catch the youths. The resident was admitted to hospital but is recovering well. If you are in this situation, do not confront the youths, but phone the Police immediately. Despite this news, do remember that Lewisham has one of the lowest crime rates in Inner London, and our estate has one of the lowest in Lewisham. We can keep it that way - ensure your property is properly secured, be vigilant and report anything, however trivial it might seem , to Catford Police station on 8695 1212. And remember, do not leave anything (coat, bag, parcels, etc.) visible in your car. Please report any incidents to Dave Harris, the Crime Cascade Co-ordinator, on 8699 6096. |
