As the temperatures soared, the Triangle proved to be the perfect place for the annual Summer Picnic. The leafy canopy from mature trees and a very welcome breeze provided a veritable oasis of cool for members who gathered together on July 16th to enjoy a glass or two of wine or Pimms with friends and neighbours, and share the wide variety of food brought along. Spicy chicken, couscous with roasted vegetables, king prawn pasta, were just a few of the savoury dishes to sample before moving on to the fresh melon with raspberries, strawberries, and/or a tray bake and ginger cake. It was really nice to welcome families who had recently moved to the Hill, and gave them the opportunity to meet their neighbours and find out more about the area. While the adults enjoyed a leisurely lunch, the children had fun playing in this usually restricted public space: water pistols have become the must have accessory for this occasion, and were particularly useful for keeping them cool in what has been declared the hottest July on record!
So look out for the date next year, and come along to meet your neighbours.
